In June of 2004 In the Presence of My Enemies was awarded the Gold Medallion by the Evangelical Christian Book Publishers Association. On hand to receive the award in Atlanta Georgia were Gracia, Dean Merrill and representatives of Tyndale House Publishing.
Books were judged in four specific areas:

• Content: An evaluation of how effectively the writer addresses the subject matter/content of the book.

• Literary Quality: An evaluation of the author’s style and expression. Is the book written with craftsman-like quality and a style that compares favorably with older works generally considered to reflect excellence?

• Design: A rating of the overall graphic presentation of the book. Are the cover, typography, illustrations, photography and general format appropriate for the content and in keeping with industry standards of excellence?

• Significance of Contribution: An assessment of the significance of the contribution of the work and the book’s impact on the marketplace in general.

The “Gold Medallion” has become the industry’s most prestigious award. Each year 5 finalists are selected in each of 20 categories. In the Presence of My Enemies was the winner in the Biography/Autobiography category.
